      <image:caption>Planted in the 1920’s, Stampede Vineyard is farmed by our family. It is located 25 miles northeast of Lodi in the village of Clements where the valley gives way to the rolling foothills of the Sierra Nevadas. It sits adjacent to the Clements Buckaroos Rodeo Grounds where the country's largest amateur rodeo, The Clements Stampede, takes place each Fall. The vines were planted in a diamond pattern, not a square, which allows soil tillage in multiple (more than 2) directions to eliminate competitive weeds while dry farming. It also provides more soil area per vine for root exploration. The vineyard is a Zinfandel field blend featuring about ten total varieties including Mission, Grenache, Alicante Bouschet, Carignane, Syrah and Tokay. The 400,000 year old soils are classified as heavy red, rocky loam, and receive more rain than the surrounding, flatter areas of Lodi. The 3,200 vines are cooled by the Delta breeze, and include an early harvested Cinsault which yields high acid and low tannins.       <image:caption>Our 3rd and most electric version of Assyrtiko from our vineyard in Clements, CA. We whole cluster pressed the grapes &amp; fermented the juice in neutral 60 &amp; 80gal french oak barrels as well as stainless steel barrels  using native yeast. It was bottled after 11 months of aging with occasional lees stirring during the first 5 months to add depth &amp; body. Assyrtiko's birthplace is the Mediterranean island jewel of Santorini, officially called Thera. The grape is the current face of Greek wine and for good reason - it's spectacular, intense and stands out in a crowd. There is very little of the grape planted in the new world. As sons of Greek immigrants we are especially proud to be amongst the first to grow &amp; produce this wine in California. We believe there is no better white grape suited to the Mediterranean climate here in California, and especially Lodi, than Assyrtiko. We whole cluster pressed the grapes &amp; fermented the juice in neutral french oak barrels and stainless steel using native yeast. It was bottled after 7 months of aging.       <image:caption>All of the fruit for this cuvee is grown by our family. The Zinfandel is grown on a 35 year old vineyard we planted when we were in high school. The tiny bit of Assyrtiko added sits along side the Zinfandel vineyard. It’s own-rooted and was the first first harvest taken from this small plot. The grapes were all gently pressed together, fermented until dryness. A second fermentation ensued after the wine was put into bottle. The wine aged on the lees (tirage) for a full 2 1/2 years (30 months) before it was disgorged in August 2023. No dosage, or sugar, was added back to the disgorged wine.
